Printing's tangible nature brings joy to people. Designing product packaging and perfect pre-press files is my passion.
I have a rich printing heritage, spanning four generations. My Dad owned a Pre-Press company for 30 years, while my Grandpa worked at EJ Arnolds, a leading UK producer of school exercise books. My great-grandfather was a letterpress compositor, and even my uncle worked in pre-press sales. I joined the industry aged 19, in 1992.
I completed my apprenticeship in York, UK, working on renowned packaging brands like M&S and Cadbury's, amongst others. Utilising the old techniques of film planning and camera operation with the odd Cromalin proof thrown in there too, if you know, you know.
In 2000 I emigrated to Australia, for obvious reasons, and continued my career at various pre-press, design, and printing companies before launching D-Print in 2010, leveraging my pre-press experience and advancements in digital print technology. It was my first independent printing venture, following my digital press operation in my previous role.
Pre-press was more suitable for me than graphic design. Offering clarity and technicality, with less ambiguity and covering all aspects of the design and print process.
Accessible Design ensures inclusivity and adds functionality. Recently, I focused on interactive digital products for a major financial organisation. And have been working with some disability organisations in Australia, some pro-bono, some paid.
Beyond printing, I love Australia, especially the Central Coast. I enjoy football, tennis, cricket, skiing, painting, bushwalks, beaches, coffee, beers, and banter.
